Strong Magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook Ilocos Norte on March 12, 2016. The epicenter of the earthquake was in southwest of Laoag City.
The M5.5 earthquake was felt by nearby provinces and there were no reports of damages and casualties. Phivolcs warned that an aftershocks will occur followinv the major earthquake.
It was felt at Intensity 5 in Laoag City; Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; Burgos, Ilocos Sur; Sarrat, Ilocos Norte; Paoay, Ilocos Norte while Sinait, Ilocos and Pamplona, Cagayan experienced it at Intensity 3.
